Bodrum is busy and has
kept its traditional beauty as this is a central
hub for the area with lots to see and do. Gumbet
is a holiday resort here you will find more English
people on package tours and an area that is designed
to cater for this type of visitor. To the right
you can see Ephesus once the second biggest city
of all the eastern world. There are bus trips here
for as little as £20 and you get lunch thrown
in for your money. The
Bodrum peninsula has lots of attractions as each
area has its own feel and a different approach to
life. Each town has a different level of entertainment
at night that reflects it's personality.

There are lots of bus trips to
Pamukkale which is a natural wonder unique in
the world formed by water over thousands of years.
At a temperature of 35 degrees C the waters come
out of the ground and down the mountain side and
form many pools which overflow to form stalactites,
hence the name "Cotton Castle" (the
translation of Pamukkale).
The ancient city of Hierapolis dating
from 190 BC can also be seen in the area.
There are daily boat trips
to the Greek island of Kos leaving from Bodrum
harbor at exactly 9.30am so get there early as
you will need to queue at passport control. The
trip costs £30 return. |
| Here you can experience
the best that Greece has to offer but do not forget
to change your money into Euros!
Bodrum bus station is the key
to the rest of the peninsula where you can visit
Gumusluk and the famous rabbit island. Turgetreis
market is on Saturday at 9.00am and there is even
an aqua park on the road to Ortakent which is
great for the kids and adults. There are also
Turkish massage parlours everywhere and boat trips
with lunch included!

Torba is a traditional
fishing village with the most beautiful beaches.
Bitez is more for the local Turkish and so you can
find a bargain here. Yalikavak is well worth a see
as its large and still growing and the surrounding
hills provide stunning views of the region.
The food here is fresh, organic, and deemed as one
of the world's top three cuisines (along with French
and Chinese). Turkish dining is fabulous in that
it includes an enormous variety of preparation,
techniques and flavors. |
